PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE

It’s a New Year, with lots of new adventures ahead! The weather can be cool (sometimes cold) this time of year, but if you have friends or family up North, it’s still probably better here. We normally get a lot of nice days for outside activities – golf, tennis, hikes, etc. If nothing else, think back about how warm it was last July, and it all feels fine. Having 4 seasons, mostly mild, can be refreshing.

At our January meeting, we had local author Ron Rash speak, and share some of his stories and history about the area. He had the full attention of the crowd, with everyone focused on his every word. It was an excellent program. We also had a variety of Community Groups represented to share information on their services, as well as Special Interest Activities to sign up for.

Our next general meeting will be Tuesday, 7 February 2012 at St Mark’s United Methodist Church, starting at 9:30 am. Various Community Groups, and Special Interest Groups will be there for you to check out. There are 2 new Special Interest Groups available to sign up for: Ladies night Out, and Genealogy. The program will feature John Hains, explaining Limnology about Lake Keowee. It will be a great way to learn more about the inner workings of the lake. If you don’t know what Limnology is, you’ll become an expert! We’ll be going to a local restaurant afterwards for those interested.

The March meeting will do an in-depth look at several of the Community Group organizations and the opportunities they have to offer.
